Earthcote Windswept Paint is a unique, brush-on textured wall paint formulated with fine glass beads to create a subtle, light-reflective surface reminiscent of carpenter’s water paper. Suitable for both interior and exterior use, this distinctive coating delivers an elegant, naturally weathered look to any space. See important notes.
Approved Applicator (Interior): Environmentally friendly, brush-on application. Ensure adherence to overcoating times. For best colour consistency, order all required paint in a single batch. Not suitable for wet areas.
What are Windswept Paint Product Features?
Textured Aesthetic: Replicates the soft, powdery finish of worn water paper, inspired by the misty tones of surfboard shaping studios.
Durable & Versatile: Ideal for both interior and exterior surfaces with a soft limewash-like appearance.
Aging & Blooming Effect: Develops a natural patina over time for an authentic, evolving finish.
Customisable Colour Range: Available in 9 standard colours, with custom tinting options using eco-friendly, Zero VOC, Glycol-Free, and Formaldehyde-Free stainers.
Windswept Application & Recommendations.
Recommended for: Exterior walls and selected interior surfaces. Suitable for previously painted or unpainted plaster.
Not suitable for: Bathrooms, showers, or high-moisture environments.
Application Process.
- Prepare surfaces according to Earthcote guidelines.
- Apply one coat of DTE Matt (tinted to your chosen colour) using a brush or roller. Allow 4 hours to dry.
- Apply the first coat of Windswept using a Hamilton’s Block Brush or 225mm Polypile roller. Lay off with a Block Brush or Renovator. Allow 4 hours to dry.
- Apply the second coat using the same method.
Coverage: ± 4m² per litre (depending on surface condition and porosity).
Overcoating: Allow 4 hours between coats. Do not exceed 48 hours between coats. If contamination occurs, clean the surface before continuing.
Packaging & Cleaning:
Available sizes: 1L, 5L, and 20L
Clean-up: Water.
Important Notes.
Ensure surfaces are dry (moisture content below 10%) before application.
Apply in temperatures between 10°C and 35°C, with humidity between 10%–85%.
Textured coatings are batch tinted—order sufficient quantities to ensure colour consistency.
Aging & Blooming: UV exposure may naturally lighten the colour over time, especially in direct sunlight. This is an intended feature of the product.

Special Note: Colours can be tinted using Zero VOC, Glycol-Free, APEO-free, NPEO-free, and Formaldehyde-free stainers, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
Recommended Uses for Windswept Paint: Designed for exterior wall applications, but also suitable for interior use on painted or unpainted plaster surfaces.
Note: This coating is not washable.
Not Recommended For: Bathrooms, showers, or high-moisture areas.
Spread Rate: Approximately 4m² per litre per coat (may vary depending on substrate condition).
Overcoating Times: Allow 4 hours between coats. Environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and wind may affect drying times.
Important: Do not exceed 48 hours between coats. If contamination occurs, clean surfaces thoroughly before recoating.

Ensure all surfaces are properly prepared and structurally sound.
Maintain a wet edge during application to avoid lap marks.
Work from corner to corner or natural break points.
Avoid touch-ups, complete full panels for uniformity.
Ensure adequate spacing when using scaffolding for ease of application.
Aging & Performance Characteristics of Windswept Textured Wall Paint.
Natural UV exposure will result in gradual lightening (“blooming”), especially on sun-facing areas.
This effect enhances the authentic, weathered appearance and should be communicated to clients.
